Possibly Charlotte's most sought-after neighborhood, Myers Park is indeed something to behold. With it's tall oak trees shading the elegant streets and homes of this historic area, Myers Park is a very desirable place to live, raise a family, or simply take an afternoon walk.
Having been transformed from farmland shortly after the turn of the century, Myers Park has been able to preserve it's original beauty and character while evolving onto a modern-day neighborhood. Complete with a country club, jogging trails, some of Charlotte's best restaurants, boutique shopping, award winning elementary, junior high, and high schools, the area residents and members of the local HOA have successfully kept Myers Park from becoming overly flashy or losing any of it's charm.
Bordered by Eastover, Barclay Downs, Cotswold, and Dilworth, Myers Park is a short drive from Uptown Charlotte. Even more appealing is it's easy access to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and the city's interstate system. Contained tastefully within the neighborhood is Queens University, Myers Park Country Club, Myers Park Library, and several churches.
Queens University, located on Selwyn Avenue, was originally founded downtown in 1857 as a women's institute and was called Queens College until 2002. The University provides undergraduate programs, master's programs, and continuing education classes, and is a huge part of the Myers Park community. For those with school aged children, there is Selwyn Elementary School, Alexander Graham Middle School, and Myers Park High School. All three public schools are located on the same city block, a veritable education village.
Shopping in Myers Park is a real treat with fashionable boutiques like Perris, Luca Lu, Julie's, B Natural, and Fresh. The multiple shopping centers in Myers Park have everything you could need, including a Harris Teeter Grocer, a wine store, Michael's craft store, numerous restaurants, a bakery, art galleries, and hobby stores. |
