Located in Lincoln County, Denver, NC is a fine place to live, work, and raise a family. Though smaller in size than neighboring Charlotte, Denver still has much to offer. Situated along the Catawba River on the west side of Lake Norman, the town attracts residents to it's laid back lake living and friendly personality. About 25 miles north of Charlotte, Denver is an easy commute to the city, and is close to Huntersville, Mooresville, and Lincolnton.
Originally named Dry Pond, Denver is rich in history, with Catawba Indians being among the original inhabitants. In order to seem bigger and better, Dry Pond residents pushed for a name change with the hopes of attracting a railroad stop in their town. Although no train has ever passed through Denver, the town has been able to flourish with new homes and businesses being introduced. Having been in a 'dry' county until 2002, many new restaurants and watering holes have recently sprouted up, improving Denver's economy and entertainment options.
