Named after U.S. President James Monroe and home to a revitalized downtown core, the town of Monroe is bustling with progress. It is also welcoming more and more immigrants from Charlotte proper. There are lots of mid-priced family homes that, for many, make up for the heavy traffic on the commute into the city. Also adding to its appeal, the Monroe downtown hosts events year-round. In August outdoor movies are shown and Music on Main runs all summer long. In winter, Monroe hosts an old-fashioned tree lighting and a silent auction to celebrate locally decorated Christmas trees.

Indian Trail was named for its proximity to the Waxhaw Indian Trail. Its first growth explosion came in the late 19th century as the railroad came through and made it into a "modern" boomtown. Now Indian Trail has just passed its Centennial mark and is again enjoying a growth spurt. Its Fourth of July Parade is a big hit and draws some of the biggest crowds in the area. The town of Lake Park is a town located near Indian Trail.
Originally hailed as the "Gateway to Union County" and this mill town processed the wheat and grain for Union County and the Charlotte area. Stallings is a vibrant little town bursting at the seams with growth--an idyllic setting for those who love small town life and the intimacy of knowing "everybody in town" but enjoy having a big city close at hand.
